Russian Hackers Steal 1.2 Billion Usernames and Passwords

By Joe Benson

Generally I try to vary newsletter article topics. You may recall last month I talked about Chinese hackers penetrating Office of Personnel Management (OPM) databases which contain files on all federal employees, including thousands who have applied for new or updated security clearances.

Veterans Day: The Other November Holiday

When thinking of November holidays, the bulk of the attention is given to Thanksgiving.  While Thanksgiving may get the better food, Veterans Day is still a reason to celebrate.

Modern Day Marine 2013

Anglicotech proudly announces its participation as an exhibitor in the annual Modern Day Marine Military Exposition to be held September 24-26, 2013 at Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA. This event will be the first of its kind that AT has attended as an exhibitor and it will be an unprecedented opportunity for us to increase awareness of AT’s service/product offerings in the market as well as provide an opportunity for us to increase our own awareness of competitor developments in the market space.

The Next Big Security Risk: Your Car

A friend posted on Facebook recently, “Sitting in the driveway waiting for my car to update its software. Haha. This is a first.” That Facebook post got me thinking about how much capability the technology inside our vehicles possess these days. The benefits are significant and undeniable but what about the risks? I quickly realized I was not alone. Car computer hacking is here. Discussing this capability consumed the first few hours of this year’s Defcon hacker conference. Read the full article and watch the video (See Link 1).

The Value of a Hacked Email Account

Bryce Koepke in Hawaii found a great blog article that reinforces the need for vigilance in security measures used to protect your email accounts. This is timeless information but in the wake of recent events it may seem particularly relevant. Thanks Bryce!

Hiring Our Heroes

Last month, I had the opportunity to attend a job fair hosted by Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation that was launched in March 2011 as a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment. They host free jobs fairs nationwide to assist transitioning military and military spouses with their job search. Workshops focusing on resume writing, military skill translation, and interviewing are also available.

Anglicotech Supports Fisher House Golf Tournament

Anglicotech was proud to be an Eagle Sponsor of the 2013 Fisher House Golf Tournament. The 2013 tournament, played on May 6th, supported the Fisher House Foundation and the construction of a new Fisher House to be located at the Womack Army Medical Center at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. This year’s tournament raised over $900,000. Randy Delarm, our VP Sales/COO, serves on the Executive Steering Committee of this great organization. Randy, thank you very much for your leadership in this important organization.

Innovation & Small Business

There are several significant discussions ongoing right now around National Defense including how much to spend, the continued movement toward low intensity conflict and the precision application of military power, and the role of small business innovation to connect the first two. This can perhaps be summarized in the often repeated phrase “we’re out of money so it’s time to think!”. Peter Drucker has been a recognized thought leader in the business world for over 60 years, and reviewing his lessons in innovation seems a worthwhile venture.

Practical Operational Security: Government, Commercial, and Personal

A Q&A with Anglicotech's FSO, Joe Benson:

AT on the Road

This month Anglicotech visited the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta to conduct a technology assessment of chemical and nano radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The team toured laboratory facilities, presented capabilities, and met with GTRI researchers in conjunction with upcoming opportunities before stopping by the campus pizza pub to continue the technical exchange over a locally-made craft brew.
