AT on the Road

This month Anglicotech visited the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) in Atlanta to conduct a technology assessment of chemical and nano radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. The team toured laboratory facilities, presented capabilities, and met with GTRI researchers in conjunction with upcoming opportunities before stopping by the campus pizza pub to continue the technical exchange over a locally-made craft brew.

Anglicotech Committed to the Fisher House

In this festive time of year, we would like to take an opportunity to talk about Anglicotech’s enduring commitment to a very important charity  – The Fisher House Foundation.  The Fisher House Foundation is best known for the network of 58 comfort homes on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers across the United States.  Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers.

On 1 August 2012, Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter testified before the House Armed Services Committee to explain the devastating effect that the legislation could have on the overall strategy and defense of the United States military.

Meet and Greet Welcomes New Employees

On 5 June 2012, the AT Team gathered once again for a company “Meet and Greet,” and this time the location was Tim’s River Shore in Dumfries, Virginia.  Located right on the water, AT staff took advantage of the gorgeous views from the deck until dropping temperatures and wind moved the party inside.  However, the change in weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the AT crew. 

While Anglicotech was happy to welcome all of its employees and their friends and family, we were especially pleased to introduce two new faces to the AT Team: Edam Colon and Melissa Ramos.

AT Marketing Coordinator Jess Hunt graduates Georgia Tech

Jess Hunt, Marketing Coordinator for Anglicotech, has recently graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design, a degree that focuses on product design, management, marketability and advertising. She graduates Georgia Tech with the honor of summa cum laude.

One of our very first staff members, Jess joined the Anglicotech crew in early 2011 and designed our first sets of business cards, brochures, and our website from her studio in Atlanta. Congratulations from the Anglicotech family, Jess!

 

Joe Benson & Motohaven's annual Poker Run: Supporting People to People Student Ambassador Program

When Program Manager Joe Benson is not in the office with the rest of the AT team, you can usually find him on a motorcycle.  Joe is a certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) RiderCoach with Motohaven, LLC .  Motohaven is the business owned by James Perkins and MGySgt Tony Anderson, a fellow Marine who has worked with both Joe and our CEO David Cooper in support of GCSS-MC.   In addition to his coaching duties, Joe is also responsible for planning and executing Motohaven’s annual Poker Run.  This year’s event is being organized to raise funds to support James’ son, Juwan Perkins, a loc

Anglicotech team attends FOSE Conference

On 3-5 April, members of the Anglicotech team headed to the Washington Convention Center to attend FOSE, the nation's leading showcase for the latest information technology innovations for government.  This year, FOSE lived up to its reputation and did not disappoint.  Listening to such dynamic and engaging speakers as Steven VanRoekel (U.S. Chief Information Officer, Office of Management and Budget), Former Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell, and Former Commander of the U.S.

Anglicotech, LLC Welcomes New Employees

US Department of Defense announces FY 2013 Budget Plan

2011 marked implementation of the Budget Control Act, which (among other government reductions) requires a Department of Defense (DoD) cut of $487 billion over the next ten years. In light of the Act, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta recently announced the FY 2013 DoD budget plan - the first request for a lower annual DoD budget since the September 11th terrorist attacks, and the first real baseline defense spending reduction since the late 1990s.

Economic Consequences of Defense Sequestration

On 26 October 2011, Anglicotech was on the Hill to hear testimony from three experts as to the Economic Consequences of Defense Sequestration before the House Armed Services Committee.  Mr. Martin F. Feldstein, Dr. Stephen Fuller, and Dr. Peter Morici all spoke to the drastic effect that significant defense budget cuts would have not only on National Security, but on the United States economy as well.

Anglicotech, LLC Strategic Planning Conference

From 20-21 October 2011, the Anglicotech team conducted a strategic planning conference to reflect on lessons learned in the past year and focus on the company’s direction moving forward.  While the main purpose of the conference was to update the Business Strategy of Anglicotech, LLC, the group also discussed current and future trends and challenges in the Information Technology and Defense industries.  The group explored long-term solutions to these challenges and Anglicotech’s role within the industry.

Deeper Defense Cuts Discussed on the Hill

On 14 October 2011, Anglicotech headed to the Hill to listen as the House Armed Services Committee hosted Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Martin Dempsey.  While the hot topic of conversation was the over $450 billion the Department of Defense must cut from its budget over the next decade, Secretary Panetta and General Dempsey both were reluctant to discuss specific cuts or programmatic changes.
